How secure and robust are your passwords? Or more importantly, how long would it take a hacker to break your password?

How Secure is My Password claims to calculate how long it would take a hacker, using a desktop PC, to crack your password.

I tried a password of “A Rabbi, a Priest, and a Minister Walk Into a Bar…” and the result came back as 14 quinquavigintillion years, whereas “password” would, as you might expect, be cracked instantly.

And in case you’re wondering, the most complex password you can put in will take 877 quadrillion nonagintillion years to break.  (Are these real words? They sound like the sort of thing kids make up!)

There’s also a nice article on LikeHacker about how to make your passwords more secure.
